RMKSOUND Oy ("we", Ilmajoki, Finland) collects as little personal data as possible. This page describes plainly what is collected, why, and what is not.
1. The applications
The INDX Audio apps from RMKSOUND Oy (SOUNDINDX, SCRIPTINDX, MIXINDX with its iOS remote, RECINDX and TAGINDX) contain no analytics and no tracking. Your audio files, scripts and projects stay on your device. TAGINDX has no networking at all. The other apps use the network and your device's audio inputs only as described here.
Internet connections
SOUNDINDX, SCRIPTINDX, MIXINDX and RECINDX connect to the internet only for:
- License activation (SOUNDINDX, SCRIPTINDX, MIXINDX): your license key and a label for your Mac are sent to our merchant of record (Lemon Squeezy) to activate or deactivate a seat. The label lets you tell your Macs apart in your license view. SOUNDINDX and SCRIPTINDX send the Mac's model and a short code derived from its hardware ID, and MIXINDX sends the name of your Mac. Activation is needed once; the apps work fully offline afterwards.
- License re-check (SOUNDINDX, SCRIPTINDX, MIXINDX): each time the app starts with an activated license, it asks Lemon Squeezy in the background whether the license is still valid, for example after a refund. This sends your license key and the activation ID. Having no connection never locks the app, and an answer that the license is no longer valid takes effect from the next start.
- Update checks (SOUNDINDX, SCRIPTINDX, MIXINDX): the app fetches a small version file from our update server when it starts and from time to time while it is open. No license key, name or information about your files is sent. SOUNDINDX lets you switch the automatic check off in Settings. SOUNDINDX and SCRIPTINDX download an update only when you choose to install it. MIXINDX uses the Sparkle update framework, which checks on its own schedule (by default about once a day); that check cannot be switched off. By default MIXINDX also downloads updates in the background and installs them when it will not interrupt you or when you quit; Update Automatically in its menu switches that off.
- Update check (RECINDX): the app asks Apple's public App Store lookup service whether a newer version exists, at most once a day. The request contains only the app's bundle identifier.
- Release news sign-up (RECINDX, optional): RECINDX is free. After you export a mix, the app may offer a card where you can enter your email address to receive INDX Audio news. Nothing is sent unless you enter an address and press JOIN. The address goes to our email service provider MailerLite as described under the website's release news below, and every message has a one-click unsubscribe link. The app works the same whether or not you join.
As with any web request, the servers involved also see your IP address and technical details such as the app and system version.
TestFlight. The RECINDX beta and the MIXINDX iOS remote are installed through Apple's TestFlight. Apple runs TestFlight under its own privacy policy and, depending on your device settings, can pass us information such as installs, crash reports and any feedback you send from TestFlight.
Your local network
SCRIPTINDX can receive OSC messages from QLab or a lighting desk, and MIXINDX talks to its iOS remote and to OSC controllers. This traffic stays between your own devices on your own network and is not sent to us.
Microphone and system audio
- Pitch Match (SOUNDINDX): microphone or system audio is analyzed on your Mac only. Audio is never recorded to disk or sent anywhere.
- Per-app volume (MIXINDX): per-app volume works by routing each app's audio through MIXINDX, which macOS labels as audio recording. The audio is processed on your Mac and never leaves it. This version of MIXINDX does not save any audio to disk. Recording the main mix is in the works; if it is added, this notice will be updated before the feature is released.
- Recording (RECINDX): the microphone, or the audio interface you choose as the input, is used to record when you press record and to let you monitor the input when you switch monitoring on. If you switch on Pre-roll (off by default), it also keeps the last 3 or 5 seconds in your iPhone's memory while the REC screen is open, so the recording can include the moments just before you press record. Pre-roll audio is kept in memory only, is discarded unless you press record, and is never sent anywhere. Recordings stay in the app's storage on your iPhone, where you can see them in the Files app, and the app never uploads them. If you back up your iPhone, the recordings are part of that backup. Suggested recording names come from Apple's on-device Sound Analysis, so no audio is sent to anyone. When you share a recording with AirDrop or the share sheet, you choose the recipient.
2. Purchases
Purchases of SOUNDINDX, SCRIPTINDX and MIXINDX are processed by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy handles your payment details and billing information under its own privacy policy; we never see your card number. We receive order information (name, email, country, product) needed to deliver and support your license. TAGINDX is free, and RECINDX is free during its TestFlight beta; neither involves a purchase on this site.
3. The website
- No accounts, no download gate. indx.audio has no accounts and no email gate for downloads. The only form is the optional release-news sign-up in the page footer (RECINDX has the same optional sign-up inside the app), described in the next item. Apart from that and the Lemon Squeezy checkout described below, the site does not ask for your email address or any other personal details. If you write to support@indx.audio, we receive your address and message and use them only to answer you and handle your request. Mail to this address is delivered to our mailbox hosted by Google Workspace (Google's privacy policy).
- Release news (optional). If you enter your email address in the footer form or in RECINDX, we use it only to send you news about INDX Audio apps: new releases, important updates and sales. The legal basis is your consent. Your consent is recorded with the time of sign-up, and every message has a one-click unsubscribe link. The address is stored with our email service provider MailerLite (privacy policy) until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it at support@indx.audio. We do not sell or share the list.
- Product news for customers. If you buy an app, we add your purchase email address (and name) to our customer mailing list, hosted at MailerLite, and may email you about updates and new products from INDX Audio. This is allowed without a separate sign-up because you are an existing customer of similar products; every message has a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to remove you at support@indx.audio. Receipts, license keys and security notices are not marketing and are always sent.
- Hosting. The site is hosted on Netlify. When you load a page, Netlify processes your IP address and the usual technical details of the request in its server logs, under Netlify's privacy policy.
- Downloads. App downloads are served from this site. There is no download log: nothing is recorded when a download starts, apart from the hosting provider's ordinary server logs described above.
- No advertising trackers and no analytics scripts. We do not collect visit statistics of our own.
- Cookies and local storage. indx.audio itself sets
no cookies. The site uses your browser's local storage only for strictly
functional purposes.
indx.themeholds the theme you see (Booth, Studio or Daylight) only for the duration of your visit, in the browser's session storage, and it is gone when you close the tab or the browser. Every new visit starts in the dark Booth theme. In the guides, indx.glangholds the language you choose, in local storage. These values never leave your browser, and you can delete them by clearing the site's data in your browser. - Third parties loaded by the site.
- Google Fonts: the typefaces are served from fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com, so your browser sends its IP address to Google when the page loads (Google's privacy policy).
- Lemon Squeezy checkout: the checkout script and overlay are loaded only when you click a buy button. The checkout runs on lemonsqueezy.com and may set its own cookies under Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy.
4. Legal bases and recipients
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) each use of personal data needs a legal basis. Here are the ones we rely on, with the outside providers that receive the data.
- Orders, licenses and refunds (SOUNDINDX, SCRIPTINDX, MIXINDX): selling and delivering your license, activating it and handling refunds is a contract with you (art. 6(1)(b)); keeping order records is required by bookkeeping law (art. 6(1)(c)). License activation and the re-check also rest on our legitimate interest in honoring refunds and in keeping a license within the number of computers it allows (art. 6(1)(f)). Recipient: Lemon Squeezy.
- Update checks: our legitimate interest in delivering updates and security fixes (art. 6(1)(f)). Recipient: Netlify, which hosts the update files.
- Support email: our legitimate interest in answering you (art. 6(1)(f)) or, if you are a customer, the contract with you (art. 6(1)(b)). Recipient: Google (Workspace mail), as described in section 3.
- Release news: your consent (art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time with the unsubscribe link. Recipient: MailerLite. Customers: our legitimate interest in telling existing customers about similar products, with a right to object at any time (art. 6(1)(f), Finnish Electronic Communications Services Act). Recipient: MailerLite.
- This website: our legitimate interest in running and securing it (art. 6(1)(f)). Recipients: Netlify (hosting and server logs) and Google (Google Fonts).
- RECINDX, TestFlight and the App Store: Apple handles the beta, the download and the update lookup under its own terms and privacy policy.
- Audio features (Pitch Match, per-app volume, recording, Pre-roll): the audio is processed on your device only and we receive none of it, so we process no personal data there.
Lemon Squeezy, Netlify, Google and Apple are US companies, so your data can be transferred outside the EU and EEA. The safeguards they rely on are described in their own privacy policies, linked on this page. We do not sell personal data.
5. Retention
Contact data, such as support emails, is kept until you ask us to delete it or the purpose ends. Order data is kept as long as bookkeeping law requires.
6. Your rights
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and you may object to its use. Email support@indx.audio. Requests are handled personally and promptly. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi).
